Since the holidays are coming up, I figured I should post about this again.

If you or someone you know suffers from anxiety, dermatillomania, trichotillomania or find that you simply need something to do with your hands - then you may want to get (or ask for!) a spinner ring

I just now realized that I’ve always wanted this.

Cats who can’t figure out walls [x]

PLEASE TAKE YOUR CAT TO THE VET IF YOU SEE THEM DOING THIS BEHAVIOR OVER TIME.

It’s called “head pressing” and it occurs in dogs and cats.

Head pressing is characterized by the compulsive act of pressing the head against a wall or other object for no apparent reason. This generally indicates damage to the nervous system, which may result from a number of varying causes, including prosencephalon disease (in which the forebrain and thalamusparts of the brain are damaged), or toxic poisoning.

http://www.vet.cornell.edu/FHC/health_resources/toxoplasmosis.cfm (head pressing is listed as a symptom)

http://sevneurology.com/patients/clip-multilobular-osteochondroma (About a dog’s brain tumor but head pressing is listed as a symptom)

I wasn’t going to reblog this until I read the important caption dang thank you!!!

YOU JUST SAVED THE LIFE OF MY CAT THANK YOU!

SPREAD THIS LIKE WILDFIRE. THIS COULD SAVE YOUR KITTIE’S LIFE!

ATTENTION FOR A SECOND, YO: Real talk, this animal (the Ordovician Helmet crab, aka the Horseshoe crab, aka the Atlantic’s most at-risk shelled animal) is of a species that is close to 450 million years old. They are considered endangered, and often wash up on the shores of Long Island (this big lady crab was at TR park in Oyster Bay)Note: these animals are often used to extract their blue blood and cure diseases. They help the ocean out big time. And they are one of the longest-surviving species on the planet. They’re washing up and people don’t think to/are scared to save them because of their deceivingly harmless barbs. Take note, friends. Their barbs are NOT stingers. They cannot hurt you. Their pinchers aren’t pinchers, they’re just little legs that are actually really soft! The barb tail they have is actually what they use to stick into the ocean floor or the sand when waves knock them over or they flip onto their backs by accident. And you can help them out by flipping them back over very quickly and helping them scuttle back into the water if you see them struggling. This is way important. Just call me the Sarah McLachlan of horseshoe crabs.

Hey everyone, as someone who grew up with horseshoe crabs literally everywhere I’d like to bring your attention to these fine, prehistoric bottom-feeders. Growing up in Gerritsen Beach (In Brooklyn, NY) meant seeing dozens upon dozens of horseshoe crabs trapped in fishing lines and shredded sandbags, stuck above the high-tide marks during low tide, and sometimes washed up on the rocks. Which led to probably hundreds of hours cutting them loose every summer during the mating seasons. Horseshoe crabs are 10000% harmless to you and can be easily handled (just don’t dangle them from their tails (known as a telson); that’s painful and you may accidentally rip the tail off and they’ll have to wait until their next molt to grow a new one!).
If you see a horseshoe crab on the beach, gently nudge it with your foot. Most of them will respond by waving their telson around. If it doesn’t respond, flip it over to check for moving limbs. If you suspect it is tangled and can’t move and you can’t bring it straight to the water because of this get a bucket of sea water and slowly pour it over the book gills and legs. As you work to untangle these rad critters, which are actually more closely related to spiders than crabs, pour more water over it periodically until you can return it to the ocean. However, during the mating season horseshoe crabs will attach together, with the large female toting around a smaller male behind her, and bury themselves in sand and mud to lay their eggs. Do not dig up these horseshoe crabs unless you are absolutely sure that they are stuck above the high tide mark. If you see dozens of beached horseshoe crabs but none of them are clinging together and the tide is going out, please do your part and turn them back in the direction of the water. Place them at the water’s edge and let them decide which direction they want to go in to be absolutely sure that they aren’t stranded accidentally.
Horseshoe crabs cannot bite you, and their “pincers” are really just for picking up food and don’t hurt if they try to grab you. They may be a little intimidating-looking but they are harmless and will be grateful for your help.

Just look at all those friendly legs waiting to tickle you in thanks for helping them not die a slow death of baking in the sun and getting eaten by gulls and other sea birds!
Please, protect our bottom feeding horseshoe crabs at all costs. Yes their blood has important medicinal value, being copper-based unlike our iron-based blood, but overharvesting them can have devastating effects on our underwater ecosystems. When being harvested for blood they should actually be returned to the ocean after taking a little, rather than bled dry

Please Help Me

bitchmare:

Today is my birthday and it has become quite possibly the worst I’ve had yet. I just found out that my roommate Stephanie has accidentally become pregnant and will not be able to afford staying in this house much longer, which means I need to find a new place too. Housing in this city is among the most expensive in Canada and I have no idea where I’m supposed to pull out the money for first and last months rent in between still paying for where I’m at now.

I only have a couple months so I ask for everyone to please help me out if you can and send money to serpentineflare(at)hotmail(dot)ca and/or reblog this post to spread it around. I’ll do a coloured sketch for everyone that donates, even if it’s just a dollar (just send me a message afterwards clarifying who you are and what character you would like a sketch of; you can check the ‘my art’ tag on my blog to see what my art looks like).

Things To Remember

wittyandcharming:

  • Don’t be angry at yourself when anxiety/depression flares up. It isn’t your fault and no one blames you and if they do they’re pieces of shit.
  • Don’t orbit around your perceived value so much. You’re not the sum total of what you produce.
  • Don’t let yourself wonder why people love you. That’s not how it works. There are not stark, individual reasons that a person can enumerate about why they love you. It’s the entire, unique combination of what and who you are.

Soon enough, Spinni thawed out. She instantly slashed out at Kirby, but he jumped back about a meter or so. And then he put his hands defensively over his head and waited.

Drop and switch, drop and switch… This is going to hurt…

Spinni noticed that he was standing still and changed tactics, just like Kirby expected her too, but he didn’t expect it to hurt that much. She rammed into him head first, a dark aura around her, almost like Hyper’s Shadow Rush, really. As soon as it made contact, Kirby flew across the room, dropping his ability as he did so.

"OW!"

He hit the wall opposite, making a whole big chunk of plaster fall on top of him and dust fly up. As his ability bounced away, Spinni waited a bit. Kirby wasn’t getting up. There wasn’t a groan of pain, or any sound at all, other than the sound of dust settling. Kirby was out for the count, buried under bits of the wall.

"Haha!" Spinni laughed. "I have done it! Zero will be so proud!"

With that said, the Dark Matter let Spinni go, finally. She slumped forwards as he did, now unconscious. And now, PAE was all alone…

__

"A plan?!" Magolor squeaked, taking another step back. "How about don’t get killed?!”

Yep. He was panicked now.

"N-now, don’t panic!" Bandanna cried. "I’m sure we’ll be fine!"

"But who’s the other Dark Matter going to possess?" Grill asked. "We don’t want to be caught off gua-"

Bandanna Dee was suddenly shoved into her. It created a domino effect, pushing the witch into Magolor, and Mags into Subby.

"Too late!" Marx chuckled. "You already have!"

The Noddy’s eyes were dialated, and mismatched in colour, one red and the other blue, and he was smiling manically. He had been possessed. Miguel was thrilled. Perfect.

The Poppy Bros. rolled a bomb at the fallen group as Marx teleported away and Fumu got ready to swing her axe.

Arrivederci, suckers!”

The pivee watched, horrified…

"K-Kirby!!"

…and then she finally lost.

Hyper growled at Spinni, then at the dark matter when it left her, and fired off a Discharge attack. Though, she certainly was getting low on those already…

"If you really think that’ll kill him, if you really think you guys are going to get out of this that easily, then you’re much stupider than I thought!” She, after all, was far from done here.

"An attack plan would be nice. And what, exactly, are these things anyway?"

Seeing the chain start, Toto summoned up a surf in an attempt to get Subby out of the way…only to knocked over when Mags fell, making the attack disappear.

"-oof!" Subby hit the ground, and quickly tried to scramble back to her feet. "A for effort, Toto…"

Looking over at Marx, she could only muster a sigh. “Bad day…”

Noticing another bomb, she ordered Toto to use surf on it, hopefully drowning it before it exploded.

Crap…We’re losing already…!

just fucking draw. don’t compare yourself to other people, don’t stop because you drew a lot last tuesday and you haven’t visibly improved. it takes time, effort, and a lot of perseverance. besides, no matter how “bad” you think you are, there’s still gonna be someone who thinks the stuff you produce is the best goddamn thing they’ve ever seen in their entire life. the artist you were five years ago would have their mind fucking blown by the artist you are today. so just draw a fuckton, because every new thing you draw is one drawing better than you were before.

I needed to read this.

Thousands of Tumblr users have been misled by a post suggesting that an unidentified elementary school girl was battered and sexually assaulted by her classmates only to have authorities excuse it as “rough housing”. This story is awful and provokes anger amongst its readers, as it should. However it’s a LIE

This article smelled “off” when I read it because it clearly stated that the mother withheld her daughter’s name to save her from humiliation. Which made the photo of the girl seem off. Why hide her name if you’ll show her face? That’s because this isn’t an article on CNN like the post suggests and that little girl isn’t a sexual assault victim. You’re looking at a photo of Makayla McEvoy. She was 7 when this photo was taken in 2012 after she survived a Kangaroo attack.

Little miss McEvoy is an Australian animal attack survivor. She is NOT an American rape victim from Georgia (thank God)

The artificial news story was fabricated by a Tumblr user called dropmycumberbritches (who now goes by vegetableighs since handing the account off to someone else to avoid heat) After posting the artificial story to raise awareness to Rape Culture, the Tumblr user then celebrated and sang their own praise. Luckily another Tumble user, untrue-posts, found the article, did some digging and reblogged the initial post with the real info.

However, the original post is still picking up speed and is sitting comfortably at 20k+ posts. Please, spread this news and let everyone know that there is not a Georgian rape victim going uncared for. Instead, there’s a poor Australian girl who was attacked by a Kangaroo in 2012 who recovered, only to have her face used for some else’s agenda.

please reblog, several people posted this story and it’s fucking horrible someone would use this as a prop.

This person also tried to claim a boy that was molested by his teacher couldn’t possibly have been raped because he was male. I don’t care if they’re just trolling, this person is disgusting and should be avoided at all costs.
